Through Balmy Fox, we hope to be able to support a number of charitable schemes and causes each year.
The support we hope to give will be both in the financial (1% of our net sales for each cause) with a minimum guarantee each year, along with promotion and time support from our team members.
Those we have selected this year, we feel fit well with our beliefs and values and hopefully those of others in sport, conservation, environment and just loving the great outdoors!
Those that we have chosen to support this year are:
Plastic Oceans UK have been experts on plastic pollution for a decade, starting with award-winning documentary A Plastic Ocean.
It’s been named by Sir David Attenborough as “one of the most important films of our time” and has ignited mass consumer awareness.
The World Land Trust is a UK-based non-profit environmental organization established in 1989. Its primary aims are to ensure conservation of plants, animals and natural communities in areas at risk.
It funds the purchase and protection of threatened habitat, working with local NGOs to create and protect reserves.
ParalympicsGB is a charity with the vision of ‘through sport, inspire a better world for disabled people.’ ParalympicsGB has launched a new campaign to make disabled people Impossible to Ignore. The initiative has been developed after recent research showed Paralympic athletes are key to challenging perceptions of disability in the UK.
Through Balmy Fox we also hope to raise awareness, campaign and support organisations that are making a difference to this World.
We believe we have the opportunity, and whilst still being a small enterprise we believe it is necessary for us to set out our stall now and use this as a platform to drive our business forward into the future.
Having lived, worked and played in nature for most of our lives, we believe that there is so much more we can do. Changes we have made on our farm over the years have given us an insight into what can be done, but we know so much more is necessary on a local national and international level, and we want to be part of this.
We’re committed to making a difference to the planet and to people.
Wherever possible we try to source and use ingredients in our formulations that benefit not only the customer and user, but those producing the ingredients and in their wider community.
One such ingredient that came to our attention was Kahai Oil, produced from the Cacay Nut and the positive impact it is having on farmers, who were once forced to grow cocaine. Kahai Oil now features in many of our skincare products.
By sustainably sourcing our ingredients, we promote a fairer trade with our suppliers. We are against animal testing and the use of Palm Oil.
We believe that our mission to be a force for good, enhancing people’s wellbeing, starts at the beginning of our products journey, with the fields, forest and communities that the ingredients used in making our formulas, come from.
We champion ethical skincare and that starts with the growers and suppliers that we work with throughout the world. That’s why we build strong, lasting relationships with our suppliers and growers. Using where possible organic and sustainable practices. We aim to use certified products and maintain a program of continuous ethical sourcing to enable us to one day be totally organic.
All of our products are vegetarian and many are also suitable for vegans (see our individual product pages or contact Customer Services for details of our vegan products) and we only use sustainably sourced beeswax.
From banking to power, from stationery to tea bags, we endeavour to use the most ethically sourced supplies and suppliers.
Our farm base at Dunsdon Farm, in North Devon was one of the catalysts to bring Balmy Fox to life.
Living, playing and working in nature, has been fundamental to the farm conservation project and with it Balmy Fox.
At Balmy Fox, our mission will continue to question and improve on every action we take so that in our own, small way, we can try to make our own positive mark on this world.
